Levi Hoste is a general pediatrician employed at the Ghent University Hospital. He has a background in clinical immunology. He coordinates hospital activities on pediatric drug research including the pediatric clinical trial unit Safepedrug Clinical Trial Unit (SPD-CTU) as part of the Drug Research Unit Gent (D.R.U.G.) and the Belgian Pediatric Clinical Research Network (BPCRN), national hub of the conect4children (c4c) consortium.

Wim Ceelen is a surgical oncologist with an interest in advanced or recurrent GI cancer, soft tissue retroperitoneal cancers, ovarian cancer, and peritoneal metastasis. He Ieads lead the Experimental Surgery lab at Ghent University, which has between 4 and 8 PhD students, one postdoc, and 4 support staff. We perform clinical, translational, and basic research in the fields of intraperitoneal drug delivery, novel treatments of peritoneal metastasis, biophysical properties of cancer tissue, and lymphatic metastasis in colon cancer.

Frank Speleman is professor at the Department of Biomolecular Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. His main focus is the study of perturbed gene regulatory processes in paediatric cancer, more specifically neuroblastoma and T-ALL.

Prof. Jolanda van Hengel is heading the medical cell biology group. Her group focuses on the in vitro engineering of functional myocardium that mimics human heart tissue for analysis of myocardial function. Also her group tries to obtain a suitable stem cell type for in vitro meat production.

Els De Leenheer is an otorhinolaryngologist with main research focus on genetic hearing loss.

Kristl Vonck is Head of the Department ‘Head and Skin’ at Ghent University and full professor of neurology at the department of Neurology at Ghent University Hospital. Research interests include epilepsy, neuromodulation, bioelectronic medicine and neurophysiological home-monitoring of neurological disorders and is performed at the 4brain lab.

Filip Van Nieuwerburgh heads the UGent Next Generation Sequencing core facility NXTGNT, focusing on transcriptomics, (epi)genomics and bioinformatics.

Frederic Acke is an otorhinolaryngologist with a PhD on genetic hearing loss. His main research focus is the exploration of mechanisms and innovative treatment strategies, including gene therapy, for inner ear disorders.

Bernard Depypere, MD received his medical degree from the University of Ghent. He started his training to become Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon in 2013 and is now chair member at the department of Prof. Dr. Blondeel in Ghent.
